The Bible became my lifeline soon after we lost Austin. It remains my main source of comfort on a daily basis. I couldn’t walk through this grief without my Bible! Encouragement for the Brokenhearted is a collection of Bible verses that will encourage someone who is grieving.
Also, His Last Words is a study of what Jesus chose to say to His disciples just hours before His death. The power and beauty in these words lifted me out of the pit of grief. These words gave me the hope I have in Heaven and restored peace and joy into my heart. I pray that God would heal your heart in the same way through this book.
Music is such a powerful healing source for me that I wanted to share some of my favorite “grieving” songs. These songs remind me what God has promised, who God is, and that this pain is only temporary and cannot compare to the glory of the eternal heaven that awaits each person who believes in Jesus.
Depending on where you are in your loss journey, or perhaps the type of day you are having today, some of these songs may not bring you peace or a good feeling. Sometimes when you are grieving, you are just mad at God. I get it. Better yet, HE gets it. What I do when I have those days, is to listen to these songs anyways. I let the songs wash over me until I cry it out, shout it out, or stomp it out. Living with loss hurts, so let it out. Sometimes, I need these songs to speak what I do not feel. In those times, I know that my hurt, pain, and anger are blocking the truth about God and heaven. I need these songs to bring my heart back to God and His truth. I pray that these songs will lift your heart towards God as well.
